What is Talking Head Video?
“Have a lifelike, on-camera presenter deliver your message. Just paste a script and pick an avatar. Or upload an image of yourself and an audio sample to be the star of any video.”
On Pika’s apps page it’s a Featured App: “Present anything with a lifelike, talking avatar.” The number of avatars, video length and credit costs aren’t listed on the app’s page; check the app.

Quick steps
- Open Talking Head Video and sign in.
- Paste your script.
- Pick an avatar, or upload your image and an audio sample.
- Check the credit cost, then generate.
- Watch closely: lip sync, pronunciation, expressions and hands.
- Fix the script where needed and regenerate, then download.
Writing for an on-camera presenter
- Talk to one person: “you,” not “viewers.”
- Short sentences give natural pauses and cleaner lip sync.
- Hook first: say the benefit or surprise in the first line.
- Numbers and names as spoken: “twenty twenty-six,” brand names spelled phonetically if misread.
- One call to action at the end.
- Length: presenters usually speak about 140–160 words per minute, so a 30-second video needs about 70–80 words (our rule of thumb).

Front-facing, shoulders up, sharp focus, soft even light, neutral expression, plain background, no sunglasses or hands near the face.
Your audio sample
A quiet room, steady distance from the mic, no music or echo, speaking naturally in the tone you want the video to have.

Consent and responsible use
- Likeness: Pika’s Acceptable Use Policy says “You must not upload or submit photographs, portraits, or other likenesses of real individuals without their express consent.”
- Impersonation: the policy prohibits content that “impersonates any person without authorization, consent, and legal right.”
- Voice: only use your own voice sample, or one you have permission to use.
- Honesty: don’t use presenters “to deceive, defraud, mislead, misinform, or disinform others,” and label AI presenters where required.
- Commercial use: Pika lists a commercial license on Creator, Fancy and Enterprise plans.
