What is the Pika API Club?

“Pika API Club is a membership program that gives builders access to the world’s leading Gen Media models through a single API — at previously impossible prices.”

Pika’s pitch is that generative media has been overpriced through other aggregators. In its words: “We negotiate better prices on members’ behalf, and pass the savings on to them.” On how prices stay low: “We’re taking very little profit. We negotiate the prices to be as low as possible, and then keep our markup minimal.”

How to join and get access

1. Sign up at dev.pika.art/login. Pika says onboarding is “self-serve end to end. No sales contact, no waitlist, no manual provisioning.”
2. Start the membership and receive the $10 first-month credit.
3. Add funds at dev.pika.art/billing; generation is prepaid.
4. Create an API key at dev.pika.art/keys.
5. Try models in the browser using the playgrounds on Pika’s models page, or follow our first request walkthrough.

How billing works

• Prepaid balance. Pika’s docs say “There is no free generation tier” and a paid balance is required before the first submit.
• Platform fee included. Listed prices “include Pika API Club’s 5% platform fee.”
• Failed jobs. The Pika 2.5 spec says “Only successful generations are charged.”
• Free checks. The model catalog, price quotes and balance reads are never charged.
• Why a fee at all? Pika says the fee lets it negotiate rates and avoid “baking a hidden markup into every API call.”

Member prices vs other platforms

Pika publishes its member prices next to Fal.ai and Runway’s API. A selection from its comparison:

Pika isn’t cheapest on every row: in its own table, Fal.ai lists a lower price for Seedance 2.0 reference-to-video and ElevenLabs TTS v2. Pika acknowledges this: “we can’t guarantee we’re going to be the cheapest on every single model vs. every competitor.” Its headline claim also varies by page: “up to 88% cheaper” on the homepage and “up to 80% off” on the pricing page.

When does the $10 membership pay for itself?

Divide $10 by the per-second saving to find how much you need to generate each month before the membership is covered. Our arithmetic, using Pika’s published prices:

Pika’s own example: “You’d only need to generate three 15-second Seedance 2.0 videos to save more than the $10 membership fee (vs. Runway Dev pricing on Seedance 2.0 text-to-video 480p).” In the first month, the $10 credit effectively offsets the membership fee.

What a month might cost

Budget for retries: if you usually need three takes per usable clip, triple the usage cost. For light, occasional use, compare with a Pika app plan instead.

Team and enterprise plans

For heavier use, Pika offers custom plans. Its enterprise page lists:

• Volume pricing: “Committed-use discounts and volume rates that improve as you scale” (the FAQ says “up to 70% off”).
• Dedicated support: “A dedicated solutions engineer, private Slack channel, and tailored SLAs.”
• Custom models: “developed in collaboration with the Pika Research Team.”
• Higher concurrency and reserved capacity “even during demand spikes.”
• Uptime: “99.9% Uptime for all models.”
