What is Pika 2.5?
“Pika’s flagship video model, tuned for crisp 1080p motion. Turn photos into mind-blowing, dynamic videos, write a shot from a prompt alone, or animate through two to five ordered keyframes — five seconds from a prompt, five or ten from a photo, one to five per keyframe transition.”

Unlike the partner models in Pika, such as Seedance, MiniMax, Wan and Google Omni Flash, Pika 2.5 is Pika’s own model. It also powers the keyframe workflow Pika calls Pikaframes.
The three modes
From a prompt
“Write a shot from a prompt alone.” Output: five seconds.
Use for: ideas you don’t have images for yet.
From a photo
“Turn photos into mind-blowing, dynamic videos.” Output: five or ten seconds.
Use for: animating a picture you already have.
Through keyframes
“Two to five ordered keyframes.” Output: one to five seconds per transition.
Use for: planned transitions and sequences.

With five keyframes there are four transitions, so at five seconds each a keyframe video can run up to about 20 seconds. For longer clips, use Extend Video.
How to use Pika 2.5
- Open Pika 2.5 at create.pika.art/apps/pika-2-5 and sign in through Pika’s login page.
- Choose the mode: prompt, photo or keyframes.
- Add your input: a written prompt, one photo, or two to five images in order.
- Write or adjust the motion prompt using the tips below.
- Pick the length where there’s a choice (5 or 10 seconds for photos; per-transition length for keyframes).
- Check the credit cost the app shows, then generate.
- Review at full size: 1080p shows fine detail, and fine flaws too.

Prompt tips for each mode
Prompt mode
Five seconds is short: one subject, one action, one camera move. Describe setting, light and style. See the text-to-video guide.
Photo mode
Describe motion, not what’s already in the photo. Add “keep … unchanged.” Use 10 seconds for slow, ambient scenes. See the image-to-video guide.
Keyframe mode
Make frames consistent in size, angle and light. Name the transition type and pace. See the Pikaframes tutorial.
All modes
Gentle motion holds up best. Add “no text,” and put titles in your editor.
From a prompt (5 seconds)
Harbour at sunrise
A quiet fishing harbour just after sunrise. Wooden boats rock gently, mist over the far shore, gulls drift across the frame. Slow lateral tracking shot, 35mm look, cool blue and soft orange tones.
What to look for: Water, mist and gulls all move naturally while the camera tracks steadily.
Try one change: Change the time to “stormy afternoon” and keep the camera line.
Coffee pour close-up
Hot coffee pours from a steel kettle into a white ceramic cup on a wooden counter. Steam rises. Close-up, camera static, morning window light from the right.
What to look for: The pour looks like liquid, and fine detail stays crisp at 1080p.
Try one change: Add “slow motion” and compare the liquid detail.
From a photo (5 or 10 seconds)
Portrait comes alive
Animate this portrait. She blinks naturally, a light breeze moves her hair, and she gives a small smile toward the camera. Camera static. Keep her face, clothing and background exactly as in the photo.
What to look for: The face stays the same person from first frame to last.
Try one change: Generate the 10-second option and check whether identity holds for longer.
City skyline at dusk
Animate this skyline. Windows light up one by one, car light trails move along the streets, clouds drift slowly. Very slow push-in. Keep the buildings unchanged.
What to look for: Buildings stay straight and lights appear gradually over the full ten seconds.
Try one change: Try the 5-second version with “camera static” for a tighter loop.
Through keyframes (1–5 seconds per transition)
Day to night
Time-lapse from midday to night. Shadows lengthen, the sky darkens, street lights and windows switch on. Camera static. Keep the buildings identical.
What to look for: A smooth time-lapse rather than a cross-fade between the two images.
Try one change: Add a sunset keyframe in the middle for a three-stage transition.
Unboxing sequence
The lid opens, the product rises out of the box and settles on the desk. Smooth, natural motion, soft studio light. Camera slowly pushes in. No text.
What to look for: Each step connects to the next without the product changing shape.
Try one change: Shorten each transition to 2 seconds for a punchier social version.
When to choose Pika 2.5
- You want 1080p from Pika’s own model: Pika says it’s “tuned for crisp 1080p motion.”
- You’re animating a photo and want the choice of five or ten seconds.
- You need a planned transition through two to five keyframes.
- You want short, focused clips to extend or edit later.
